Head Coach - Richard Schrader

Richard Schrader grew up in Sumter, SC and played high school football and track at Thomas Sumter Academy and Wilson Hall, where he won a State Championship in track
and played for a State Championship in football.  He was named All State two years consecutively and All Conference three years consecutively. Richard was also a State Champion long jumper and school record holder.

Graduating in 1985, he attended Newberry College for the next four years as a scholarship football athlete as a 22 game starter at tight end. He received a B.S. degree in both Math
and Computer Science in 1989 and married Amy Winkler that same year.

Richard and Amy have been married for 21 years and have six children; Alex, Johnnie, Samantha, Okoye, Stacy, and Hope.  Both Schrader and his wife, Amy, are educators in Greenville County, SC and are active members of Word of Life Ministries in Simpsonville, SC.

Achievements

In the 15 years that Richard has coached, he has always pushed his athletes to become the best students, athletes, and people that they could become.  More than 40 players have gone on to play college football at some level in that length of time, including three in 2009.

In his 4 years in Greenville County he has turned a program around from a 0-10 first season to a 8-4 season and the second round of the playoffs.  He has taken athletes to FCA camp every year he has been in Greenville County. He is on the South Carolina Strength Coaches Association Board.  He was nominated for South Carolina's Strength Coach of the Year Award, and in 2009, received the honors of Greenville County's Football Coach of the Year and Region Track Coach of the Year.
